After a wonderful day off yesterday visiting the Acropolis and surrounds followed by a sumptious
dinner on our hotels rooftop restaurant then a stint at Euroclub until 4am,
I am amazingly refreshed and ready for the day of the Final.

Ryan and myself are about to head out to the venue for the last Dress rehearsal and the good
news is we are in Row 7 today so my camera will be with me.
I hope to download at least one pic of each country between that and the final tonight

Also i am off to but money on the 4 certs each way.
Finland, Bosnia, Germany and Romania with another one at the best odd I can get.

So till later.

I am so pissed off right now

Before this year, I lived on the other side of the world. The last couple of years, I could watch the contest over the internet. This year finds me, for the first time, in one of the Eurovision counties with a chance to watch it live (and even the chance to vote). I have looked forward to this for months. I tuned in on Thursday night, and found other programming. After a bit of research, I learned that the national broadcaster only shows the event live in the capital and the surrounding area. The rest of the country gets to see it the next day.

Well, I could still watch it on the internet like before, right? WRONG! The !@#$%^&* idiots at the EBU have decided to stream the program this year with some Windows only application. Thanks a lot. I finally got to see the semifinal LAST night, and will get to see the final Sunday night.

Does anybody know of a site that will liveblog the final, so I can follow along?

Thank you for letting me vent.

See the above link, maybe you can try there also as it lists a couple of livestreams and presumably in English as well!

Octoshape is the PROBLEM, not the solution.

Not sure if this is Windows only too, but this is the livestream of the Dutch channel that will broadcast it tonight. It's pretty decent quality, so give it a try!

Re: I am so pissed off right now

You can also try the live webcasts of TRT. Go to www.trt.com.tr and click on the live link at the top right, You can then choose TRT1, 2 4, or TRT int. Commentary will be in Turkish.

I hope no-one asked this before, but was any of you lot dressed in a boa in the Irish colours? If so, the camera loved you.

Back here in Blighty the BBC News is talking about just one entry: Lordi. TV producers just love those wacky costumes and it serves their purpose to portray Eurovision as some camp, silly, dressing up game.

Go Bosnia (a proper song).

I only want to see one thing tonight - Finland finish anywhere in the top five. All of the years they have entered the contest, they have never finished in the top five. I don't like the song that much, but they still deserve a high place.

Re: Finland

I agree - the Fins deserve it. This is their 40:th entry to Eurovision and they've never come higher up than 13:th place. I think Europe will change that this year!

I have no problem with either of these winning: Bosnia, Finland, Romania, Russia.
I would be happy if Sweden won, of course, but that's because we would get to have ESC here next year, not because I think the song is the best in this year's competition.

Re: Finland

Finland finished 6th in 1973 with "Tom Tom Tom."

Re: Finland

I would bet me arm and leg, and am sure that Finland or Russia will win, so either Helsinki or St. Petersburg/Moscow maybe Vladivostok, next years venue. Whiever Way VOTE for LORDI, we recieved a badge whit this message when we ordered some hard rock cd's las week, great cameo an merchendising, this is in my eyes the only song worthy to win as it is original refreshing and new to the Eurovision song contest.

Most winners arrived with something new or a copy of it in later years. France Gall, Abba, Celine Dion, and any Irish entry. I'm from Belgium myself and I thank ther lord that kate went down like a fallen tree as her performance and singing sucked from the first day she rehearsed. Not completely her fault though.

Re: Finland

Vladivostok? You want to start the show at 0600 local time? :) They don't have the facilities there anyway. I don't know what they will do when a country like Armenia will win. That would require the show to start at midnight local time.

I don't know about Russia this year. The thing that makes me really sad is that Dima Bilan had a MUCH better song last year, but couldn't win the national final (he finished second).

What about Russia? No one talks about that one since after the semi? What's going on, eh?

(Anonymous) at 2006-05-20 13:30 (UTC) (Link)

Re: Russia

Hey Sofia

Well for IMO Russia is the main "opponent" for Sweeden, I like both songs much.
For Russia I think is not in the best order to sing 10th instead of very good order Sweeden has.
Also the surprise from piano wont be a surprise today!
But still Russia has a very dynamic song.
